Renters Rights Bill Delayed Until Autumn as Commons Pushes Back Debate

It is now confirmed that the Renters Rights Bill will not become law until early autumn.
Lucy Powell MP, Leader of the House of Commons, has not allocated time for the Bill to be debated before Parliament breaks for its summer recess on Wednesday. Instead, it has been reported that Powell has scheduled the consideration of amendments for September 8, a full week after MPs return from their summer break.
Meanwhile, the House of Lords will proceed with its planned Third Reading on Monday. However, this is expected to be a short and procedural session, with substantive discussion of amendments postponed until the Bill returns to the Commons in September.
With the revised timetable in place, Royal Assent is now anticipated shortly before the Commons adjourns again on September 16, when MPs begin their party conference season.
